Matt’s Homecoming Photos

An amazing homecoming event was held on Saturday under sunny skies with a perfect breeze to let Matt sail into Annapolis Harbor past a large crowd, fireboat, marching band, bagpiper and lots of media.

The following photos were taken by Mark Duehmig. They are licensed for feature news articles but not for resale. Please credit Mark Duehmig.

These are very high resolution photos, please give them a moment to load.

  1. It was a perfect ending to a magnificent endeavor. The weather was glorious to welcome home our hero.

Thank you Mark for these great pictures…..I can delete mine:-)!

Hope you are having a very happy reunion Matt.
Mom/Marlowe you were beaming….and rightly so. I can only imagine your ovewhelming joy…like Carol I was all choked up.
I am so going to miss “sailing with you Matt”…..but who knows maybe some Wed night on the bay…..or a frostbite race….that certainly wouldn’t faze you in the least!

  2. Matt, i have a great picture of St. Brendan alone at Annapolis city dock around 7pm of the day of your arrival with the approaching storm in the distance. I want to send it so you can see it. She looks at peace and totally unafraid of anything that comes her way, just like her captain. Let me know what email address to send it to. Congratulations, on an incredible achievement.

  3. What a great day it was! What great weather! and Matt is like a regular guy! Great to meet him after knowing him only from posts. I hope to be able to spend more time talking to him about boats and his trip. My only regret: I’m having “red dot withdrawal.” I click on the site and the red dot is still in town.

  4. ACOMPANHEI SUA AVENTURA DIARIAMENTE DESDE QUANDO VOCE PASSOU AQUI EM RECIFE/ BRASIL. FICOU O SEU EXEMPLO DE CORAGEM E DETERMINAÇAO PRA TODOS NOS. PARABENS E FELICIDADES.

  5. I watch mainstream web and TV news daily – as well as PBS: Plenty of the Kardashians; Miley Cyrus; Another brawl on the court; so so is the Richest this month yadayadayada…

And not one national mention of this momentous achievement nor of the marvelous person that accomplished it.

Such a sad superficial race we’ve become.

    Matt Rutherford is my hero.
